About

Welcome to the Day 6 Bicycles Blog. We want to thank you for taking the time to visit our site.

Day 6 bicycles is headquartered in Bozeman, Montana. The company manufactures comfort bikes like no other brand on the market. Day 6 ships all bicycles from their warehouses in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Day 6 was founded on the belief that the bicycle can be comfortable for everyone as well as fun and practical. Born from this radical idea is the “Dream”. We believe it is the most ergonomically correct and comfortable bicycle in the marketplace today. Our patented seat-back and frame geometry leave the rider in the most stress-free riding position possible for wrists, seat, and back. All this comfort was achieved without sacrificing the performance and ease of use customers are looking for in the traditional bicycle design.

Too many potential customers feel left out of the bicycle culture because the forward-leaning posture causes wrist and back pain. Also, the near vertical position of the seat post on traditional bicycles makes it impossible to reach the ground from the seat; our frame geometry makes it possible for riders to reach the ground without leaving the seated position.

The Day 6 Bicycle Start-up Story

Told by Kelly Hutson: Original founder and designer

The name Day 6 was chosen because man was created on Day 6 and I believe the Day 6 bike fits the human design better than any other bike.

The idea for Day 6 Bicycles came in 1993.  I hurt my back while landscaping in 1987 and couldn’t go for bike rides because my back hurt so bad.  I started modifying old bikes but found out quite quickly that I needed to come up with something totally new.  I was just playing around with the designs but noticed that every time I rode my bike people would ask me where I got it.  The next step was to get a nice prototype made and then I began thinking about going into production.  I had some drawings made and then met an importer at Interbike who had contacts in Taiwan to make bikes for me.  After getting a finished prototype, I found some investors and ordered our first container of bikes in 2005.  Since the first 21 speed we have added a 7 speed internal hub, a 7 speed derailleur model, an electric model, and we have designed a new seat. I’m excited to continue to help our customers by providing the best comfort bike possible.
